Here are the latest statistics:
Lee County (the location of the Coquina, in Siesta Bay) reported 34 new cases yesterday, September 7, 2020, down from our last report of 103 on August 10th, 2020; the State of Florida had 1,838 new cases reported yesterday, down from 3,614 on September 2nd; and Florida’s positivity rate was 5.97%, over the week ending August 30th.
Although Florida’s positivity rate is still above the World Health Organization’s recommendation of less than 5%, it has dropped below the Florida Department of Health’s target rate for re-opening, which is 10.0%.
We are optimistic that these trends will continue, but we are waiting with some trepidation to see what effect the Labor Day holiday weekend will have in the two weeks thereafter.
