Junonia Dreams COVID-19 Update

August 12, 2020

In the interest of keeping our guests informed and safe, here is how Junonia Dreams is handling the complications of COVID-19.

First, and most importantly, we’ve REDUCED OUR RATES FOR THE COMING SEASON DRASTICALLY! Please check out the bargains on stays of one month or one week at the Coquina, in the community of Siesta Bay, Ft. Myers, Florida, on our rate page.

We have verified with our cleaning crew that they are taking extra care in their work, and that they–and we–are complying with the County’s Vacation Rental Safety Plan cleaning guidelines (approved by the State of Florida).

The Vacation Rental Safety Plan is outlined as follows:

  • Prohibit rentals to persons traveling internationally.
  • Allow adequate time between the conclusion of a guest stay and the check-in of the next guest(s) for appropriate cleaning and sanitation.
  • Clean and disinfect all frequently touched surfaces in the property between each guest stay.
  • Wash all linens, dishware, and other service items available for use by guests between each guest rental.
  • Provide sufficient soap and surface sanitation supplies for guests to use in the vacation rental property during the guest’s rental period.
  • Ensure adequate safety protocols are in place and publicly displayed in line with CDC guidance regarding shared or multi-residence amenities such as pools, gyms, and other communal spaces.
  • Follow CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting the facility: CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting.

We will be posting updates for Lee County, where the Coquina and Siesta Bay are located, on this blog. These updates will provide our guests with a brief assessment of the recent trend of Lee County’s daily new confirmed cases and the State’s current positivity rate. The positivity rate is the number of new cases compared to the number of tests administered; thus, the lower this number, the better. This is part of the information on which we are basing our decisions. Guests can likewise use this information to make their own decisions on when to visit.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that the positivity rate should remain at or below 5.0% for 14 days before re-opening. The Florida Department of Health calculated Lee County’s 7-day positivity rate as 9.15%, as of Sunday, August 9th, 2020 (down from an overall rate of 14.15%). The number of confirmed new cases in Lee County on Monday, August 10th, was 103, down from the 7-day average of 121.7.

We believe that the trend of daily new confirmed cases and the positivity rate will both continue slowly downward. Watch this blog for updates and changes.

We hope you will soon feel confident about travelling and be able to come down and discover Paradise in Southwest Florida!
